Since the half marathon I’ve focused most of my efforts on fundraising so thought I’d do a quick update on where I’m up to before the real training starts!
I started off really early on in the summer by emailing and asking local attractions and businesses to donate gifts towards the raffle and managed to collect the following;
- Snow White Panto at De Montfort Hall, Leicester
- The Phoenix Cinema, Leicester
- Rockingham Castle
- Hamper from Farndon Fields Farm Shop, Market Harborough
- Thunderbowl Bowling, Kettering
- Leicester Racecourse
- Milos Cafe, Market Harborough
- Northampton Town FC Tickets
- Blend Coffee Shop, Market Harborough
- Coventry City FC Tickets
- Garage Bakehouse, Market Harborough
- Northampton and Lamport Railway
The raffle was launched through family and friends selling tickets to their work colleagues and friends. The response was amazing and the total cash donations for the raffle was £419.50, not including all of the kind text and JustGiving donations.
Having spent around three weeks selling the tickets, I held a tea and coffee morning at Foxton Village Hall on 21st November where the raffle was also drawn. Sainsburys in Market Harborough donated tea bags and coffee for the morning. There was plenty of cake including a number of donations of – 5 desserts, a sticky toffee cake, Christmas cake, chocolate cake and Victoria sponge! The morning went well and a £60 profit was made on tea, coffee, cake and a book/DVD stall.
As well as the raffle and coffee morning I’ve also sold clothes through the cash for clothes banks and on eBay which all adds up.
Alongside the blog posts about my training, I’m planning on putting together an A-Z of fundraising and what I’ve done and hope(!) to get through the alphabet in fundraising. My current total is now at £896.61 so I’ve still got a way to go but feeling very positive about hitting the target!
